Talks underway to end nationwide lecturers’ strike

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos has assured that talks to resolve the ongoing stalemate in public universities are on track. Appearing before the Senate Education Committee on Friday, CS Migos revealed that 2.73 billion shillings owed to lecturers under the 2021–2025 Collective Bargaining Agreement has already been paid. Negotiations are still ongoing for the outstanding 7.9 billion shillings from the previous agreement. His assurance comes as learning remains paralyzed in public universities for the tenth day, leaving thousands of students in limbo after lecturers downed their tools.
