Takriban watu 95 wamethibitishwa kufariki na wengine 130 kujeruhiwa huku zaidi ya majengo 1,000 yameharibiwa.
Tetemeko lilikuwa na ukubwa wa 7.1 na kina cha kilomita 10 (maili sita), kwa mujibu wa data kutoka kituo cha Utafiti wa Jiolojia Marekani.
