Those who suffer from chronic illnesses in Mombasa are struggling to access treatment with majority of private hospitals yet to sign contracts with SHA. Only three hospitals are offering cancer treatment services with teachers suffering from cancer claiming that lack of essential equipment and drugs is putting their lives at risk. The Kenya union of post primary education teachers (KUPPET) Mombasa branch claims the situation has contributed to the deaths of three teachers.
