Three suspects accused of the murder of three young men who were lynched and burnt to death in a mob justice incident in Machakos Town have been remanded for 30 days after pleading not guilty before the High Court.
Appearing before Justice Josephine Mongare, Christopher Mwenda, Dominic Muinde Paul and Francis Mutinda denied three counts of murder in connection with the deaths of Charles Kioko Mutiso, Kennedy Katuu Muthungu and Stanley Mbithi Muthungu on May 31 this year.
The court ordered that the suspects be held at Machakos GK Prison for 30 days pending a probation report to determine whether they qualify for bail.
The prosecution and lawyers representing the victims' families opposed their release, citing the risk of interference with ongoing investigations.
