TONIGHT | What tax relief measures translate to

  • | Citizen TV
The government has gazetted the new reduction of value added tax from 16 percent to 14 percent effective the 1st of April. This is in line with President Kenyatta’s directives to offer relief to Kenyans and businesses to cushion them from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The tax reliefs that include waiver of payment of tax for Kenyans earning 24,000 shillings and below however may appear little to the beneficiaries but will have serious ramifications on the governments delivery of services and development agenda, at least for this year.
