Stakeholders in the tourism and hospitality sector are calling on the government to streamline licensing, saying multiple permits and levies are increasing the cost of doing business and hurting Kenya's competitiveness. Speaking in Mombasa, Regional Hospitality Leadership Summit and Expo Director Dr. Enock Makanga said hotel investors are required to obtain more than 10 licences from both national and county governments. The stakeholders also urged the government to reduce levies and step up the marketing of Kenya's safari, beach and conference tourism products.
