A gold mining tragedy has struck the Karon area in Turkwel, West Pokot County. Four people have been confirmed dead after a mine collapsed earlier today, leaving several others injured. The wounded have been taken to Kapenguria County Referral Hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased await postmortem examination at the local mortuary.
Authorities are urging residents to steer clear of unsafe mining sites as rescue and recovery efforts continue.
