Treasury planning to bring back clauses from Finance Bill

Prices of basic commodities including bread and cooking oil could rise if the eco levy that was in the contentious Finance Bill 2024 is reinstated. According to the packaging, producer responsibility organization however, imposing the tax on raw materials used to manufacture plastic packaging will lead to a jump in prices which can only be salvaged by imposing the eco levy on finished imported goods.
