Universal Health Cover to cover mental health

The Ministry of Health will integrate mental health into the universal healthcare coverage project.Head of Health Promotion at the Ministry of Health Gladys Mugambi said the move is meant to support Kenyans facing the challenge that has been attributed to the rise in cases of suicide. She was speaking during a consultative meeting in Nairobi with Thalia Psychotherapy, an organisation which specializes in promoting mental health in Kenya. The meeting dubbed leveraging on technology in promoting mental health also saw the launch of Ajala an AI-based anonymous calling service app designed specifically for men, encouraging them to open up about their mental health struggles without fear of judgment.
