Studies show that over 3 in 5 caregivers in Sub-Saharan Africa suffer from physical, emotional, and economic strain. Across Africa, caregivers quietly sustain families, communities and even health systems. But since their work is uncounted, their struggle remains invisible. The absence of local data, research, and supportive policies only deepens their burden. The BBC spoke to two caregivers and also put the two of them in touch – Jane Muchiri, whose husband suffered an accident eleven years ago which left him with a spinal cord injury, and Viona Wamuyu , who looks after her brother Joseph, who is autistic, and her mother, who is schizophrenic. 🎥 🎞️ Filmed & edited: Njoroge Muigai 🎬 🎤: Producer & reporter: Brian Waihenya Subscribe: http://bit.ly/subscribetoafrica Website: https://www.bbc.com/africa Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/bbcnewsafrica/ Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/bbcafrica/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bbcafrica/
