Varsities struggle to prepare for 2029 CBE transition

With just four years to go before the first cohort of Competency-Based Education learners transitions to university, Kenyan institutions are racing against time to prepare for the 2029 shift to CBE at the tertiary level. Sector regulators and vice-chancellors now concede that universities are not ready, citing funding shortfalls and the urgent need to retool lecturers as the biggest obstacles.
