Katika hotuba zao, viongozi wa mkutano huo wameeleza kuwa hali ya usalama Mashariki mwa DRC bado ni tete, huku mashambulizi ya makundi ya waasi kama M23 yakisababisha vifo vya raia na walinda amani, pamoja na kuzorotesha hali ya kibinadamu. Wameeleza kuwa wanawake, watoto na watu wenye ulemavu ndiyo waathirika wakubwa wa mgogoro huu. Mawaziri hao wametoa wito kwa pande zote zinazohusika katika mgogoro wa DRC kuheshimu sheria za kimataifa, kulinda wanadiplomasia na kuhakikisha misaada ya kibinadamu inawafikia wahitaji. Wameeleza kuwa njia pekee ya kuleta amani ya kudumu ni kupitia mazungumzo badala ya mapigano yasiyoisha.
