Mapema siku hiyo, Israel na Hamas walikubaliana juu ya sitisho la mapigano huko Gaza kwa takriban siku nne, ili kuruhusu misaada na kuwaachia matekani 50 wanaoshikiliwa na wanamgambo katika eneo la Palestina kwa mabadilishano ya Wapalestina 150 ambao wako katika jela za Israel.
Sitisho la kwanza katika karibu wiki saba za vita, limefikiwa kwa upatanishi wa Qatar, umepongezwa duniani kote kama dalili ya maendeleo ambayo huenda ikapunguza madhila kwa raia wa Gaza ambao wamezingirwa na Israel na kuachiliwa kwa mateka zaidi ya Israel.
