A section of farmers from Western Kenya have opposed the suspension of sugar milling in the region that will take effect next week Monday. In a circular issued by the Kenya sugar board on Tuesday, seven sugar mills will halt their milling operations for the next three months due to an acute shortage of mature cane in the region. Some farmers have, however, endorsed the move, which they say will enhance their returns due to increased tonnage.
