William Ruto has been sworn in as the fifth President of Kenya at Moi International sports complex, Kasarani stadium. Ruto took the oath of office at 12.44 pm and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua shortly after, in a swearing-in ceremony led by Chief Justice Martha Koome and the registrar of the judiciary Anne Amadi. Ruto would later receive instruments of power including the Kenyan constitution and the presidential ceremonial sword from the immediate former president Uhuru Kenyatta in a change of guard witnessed by over 20 African heads of state and high-level dignitaries from Western countries.
