Residents of Woodley and eight other Nairobi county estates, under the umbrella of Nairobi city county government housing estates, staged a protest outside Nairobi city hall , decrying what they termed illegal evictions orchestrated by county authorities. The demonstrators accused the county government of defying court orders and nullifying a rent waiver granted in 2019 under former governor Mike Sonko’s administration. They demanded the immediate reinstatement and validation of the waiver, the return of all evicted tenants to their homes, and the removal of Nairobi’s chief housing officer. Attempts to officially present their petition hit a roadblock when county officials declined to accept the document, citing a lack of signatures and the absence of registration for the association
