Kaya elders are urging the youth to play a lead role in the protection of forests. The elders say forests are under threat due to a thriving charcoal business and incessant logging. The elders have embarked on a mission to plant some 1 million tree seedlings in the coastal region and are encouraging the youth to embrace the regeneration effort.
