Martin Mutisya elected chairperson of KUPPET Machakos branch

Martin Mutisya, is the newly elected chairperson of KUPPET Machakos Branch. The new chair, has vowed to instil unity among the union’s officials and to steer reforms that will promote the welfare of teachers. Mutisya was speaking after he was declared winner in an election that drew unprecedented crowds of teachers from all the 9 sub-counties. His win ends the era of Musembi Katuku who served as KUPPET Executive Secretary in Machakos for 24 years. In a historic turn, Yvonne Mutindi Musyoka who previously served as the branch’s vice secretary, becomes the first woman to lead a top KUPPET position after she was elected as the union’s executive secretary. The election also saw other youthful leaders clinch victory with the union members adamant that it was time for change.
