Former Garissa Governor Ali Korane, in his bid to recapture the Garissa gubernatorial seat, has pledged to re-employ all county officials who were dismissed by the current administration and return them to payroll without any conditions. In 2022, when Governor Jama Nathif was re-elected for his second term, he dismissed close to 3,000 employees after a human resource audit into the county's employment procedures. The group, however sued the county over illegal dismissal.
