Advocate calls for full operationalization of Legal Aid Act to boost access to justice

Advocate of the High Court Ekaterina Handa is calling for the full operationalization of Kenya's Legal Aid Act, saying it is critical to institutionalizing legal aid services and improving access to justice for vulnerable and marginalized groups. Handa argues that a fully functional legal aid framework would make it easier for indigent Kenyans to obtain legal representation, advice and assistance, ensuring that lack of financial resources does not become a barrier to justice. The Legal Aid Act established the National Legal Aid Service and a legal framework aimed at providing affordable and accessible legal services to vulnerable members of society.
