It is a huge sigh of relief for cancer patients as the cost of medicines used in cancer treatment is set to drop significantly following a deal between the government and pharmaceutical giant Pfizer. Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale says the agreement will see the cost of medicines for seven cancers drop by more than sevenfold. He says the reduced prices will complement the 800,000-shilling cancer treatment package under SHA. The government is also stepping up efforts to strengthen early cancer screening and detection at the primary healthcare level.
