DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua claims there is a plot by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to rig next year’s presidential election in favour of President William Ruto, via a plan to give Miru Systems Co. Ltd, a South Korean firm, a tender to supply the Integrated Elections Management System for the 2027 General Election. Gachagua, who is flying out to the United States tonight, alleged the firm has a global reputation for rigging of elections, adding that some senior government officials led by Mining Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho and IEBC Vice Chairperson Fahima Abdallah had already met its officials. As Emmanuel Too now reports, Gachagua’s support for the Smartmatic company, which has been supplying IEBC election technology, appears to be a departure from the United Opposition’s earlier position.
