Government scales up drought intervention measures in affected areas

The government has resolved to upscale drought intervention measures to at least 23 counties currently facing starvation. Deputy President Kithure Kindiki says that more resources have been released to procure additional food and non-food items for the estimated 3.3 million Kenyans in dire need. According to Kindiki plans are also underway to create a permanent solution to the perennial drought crisis in drought prone counties such as water tracking system and diversification of food system.
