The government says it will fully integrate traditional medicine into Kenya’s formal healthcare system by 2028.
Speaking during African Traditional Medicine Day at KEMRI headquarters, Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale said the government is finalising a regulatory framework to ensure traditional medicine is scientifically proven, quality assured and safe for public use.
Duale said the framework will also protect the intellectual property rights of traditional medicine practitioners.
He added that the new regulations have already undergone stakeholder validation and will soon be subjected to nationwide public participation.
