Govt grants 10-month reprieve to 7,400 UHC staff

The government has shelved the transfer of payroll for 7,400 Universal Health Coverage staff to the counties. Instead, the Ministry of Health will pay the workers' salary and remuneration commission, SRC rates for the next one year before they are transitioned to the devolved units. After crunch talks with the Council of Governors, the two levels of government have reached a consensus on payment of SHA claims to county public hospitals by the 14th of every month.
