The Ministry of Education estimates that 2.4 million children between the ages of 3 to 21 are living with various impairments. Out of these, only 108,221 to 250,000 of them are enrolled in school, from Early Childhood Education through to the secondary level.
Joyland Special School in Kisumu is not only an institution that caters for learners with special needs, but also a key assessment centre for children with impairments. NTV’s Judith Cherono Omondi visited Joyland Special School which is supports children with various impairments from Nyanza region and beyond.
