IEBC warns violent politicians risk 2027 poll ban

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has warned that political leaders linked to goons and other forms of political violence risk being disqualified from contesting in the 2027 General Election. While unveiling its violence-free election roadmap, the commission said it will strictly enforce election laws to ensure leaders who fuel division and polarise the country do not make it onto the ballot. The National Police Service has also pledged to tighten surveillance on politicians linked to violence as part of efforts to safeguard the integrity of the 2027 polls.
