    Now to the controversy surrounding the closure of Tata Chemicals Magadi. Mining Cabinet Secretary Hassan Ali Joho says the company must pay 18 billion shillings in royalties owed to Kajiado County and the local community before it can get a chance to apply for a licence to resume its mining operations in Magadi. Joho, who defended President William Ruto’s directive to shut down the company’s operations, accused Tata Chemicals of failing to comply with licensing regulations for years. Emmanuel Too has more.
