Kajiado County has formally taken over the management of functions of Amboseli National Park, with a phased revenue-sharing plan set to benefit local communities, while the national government retains responsibility for wildlife conservation. The transfer, gazetted under Notice No. 15230, allows the county to manage park operations, but ownership and conservation mandates remain with the national government. Starting July 2026, Kajiado County will receive 50% of net park revenue in the first year, with the amount rising to 70% in the second year, and full revenue by the third year.
