Kenya Electricity Generating Company, KenGen, has reported a slight drop in net profit for the financial year ended June 2026, despite higher revenues and operating profits. The electricity generator’s net profit fell by 1.2 per cent to 10.35 billion shillings, from 10.48 billion shillings the previous year. KenGen attributes the decline to lower finance income, which dropped from 4.1 billion to 2.9 billion shillings after the company deployed cash into capital projects. Despite the lower profit, KenGen continued to strengthen its balance sheet, cutting total borrowings by 12.2 billion shillings to 97.1 billion shillings.
