Kenya on high alert over projected El Niño rains

The country remains on high alert following a warning by the Kenya Meteorological Department of heavy El Niño rainfall between October and December 2026. According to Kenya Red Cross Disaster Risk Reduction Manager Peter Murgor, 46 counties are at risk, with more than two million people likely to be affected.
