Kenyan court rejects Rastafarian's bid to legalise cannabis- BBC Africa

A Kenyan court has dismissed a bid by the country's Rastafarian community to legalise cannabis for religious purposes. They had argued that marijuana forms a central part of their worship and that criminalising it violates their constitutional right to freedom of religion. However, the judge ruled that they failed to provide sufficient evidence to prove cannabis is essential to their faith. In Kenya, the cultivation, use, and possession of cannabis remain strictly illegal, carrying penalties of up to 10 years in prison.
