Community leaders from Kiunga in Lamu East and Lamu County government officials, have called for renewed efforts to protect the long-standing refugee–host integration model along the Kenya–Somalia border, citing emerging insecurity and growing pressures from locals. The call was made during a historic homecoming celebration marking 30 years of peaceful coexistence between refugees and host communities in the area.
