Malkia Strikers reach Olympic qualifiers semi-finals

The national women’s volleyball team, the Malkia Strikers, are through to the semi-finals of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games qualifiers after a 3-1 win over Algeria at the Kasarani Indoor Arena on Tuesday night. Algeria started strongly and took the first set 25-21. This was a wake-up call for Kenya, who came back stronger in the second set with a commanding 25-7 win. In the third set, Kenya was again too strong for Algeria, taking it 25-15 to go up two sets to one. In the fourth set, Algeria put up a spirited fight, but Kenya, pushed by the home crowd, proved too good, winning the set 25-18. Kenya will meet Cameroon in the semi-finals on Thursday. The other semi-final will see Rwanda take on Egypt, also on Thursday.
