The national volleyball team, the Malkia Strikers, are all set for their African title defence after receiving the national flag from Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya. The team is now good to go after their allowances were fully settled. The flag handover ceremony is a tradition for all Kenyan national teams ahead of major championships, where they receive the flag from the President or the Cabinet Secretary for Sports on behalf of the President. The Malkia Strikers are in Pool “A” alongside Mali and Zambia in the only pool with three teams. Pool “B” has Egypt, Uganda, Burkina Faso and Senegal, Pool “C” consists of Cameroon, Tunisia, Nigeria and Ghana, while Pool “D” has Rwanda, Algeria, D.R. Congo and Burundi. All teams are now in Nairobi as the tournament starts on Tuesday, with matches at Kasarani and the Ulinzi Sports Complex.
