Maraga flags corruption and political influence in police recruitment

Former Chief Justice David Maraga has lifted the lid on endemic corruption, favouritism and political influence in the National Police Service recruitment process, saying the practices continue to lock out suitable candidates. Speaking during the release of the National Taskforce on Police Reforms report, Maraga also criticised Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and DCI Director Mohamed Amin for remaining in office beyond the mandatory retirement age.
