Mukunji calls for tougher illicit alcohol laws

Manyatta Member of Parliament Gitonga Mukunji is calling on Parliament to strengthen laws targeting the manufacture, distribution and sale of illicit alcohol in the country. The legislator wants stiffer penalties for producers and distributors, especially those targeting minors and the youth, amid a worrying rise in illicit brews. Speaking today at Parliament Buildings, Mukunji urged Parliament to champion increased budgetary allocation towards community-based rehabilitation, youth empowerment and public awareness programmes in respective constituencies.
