The Narok County Government has launched a major vaccination program against Foot and Mouth Disease, targeting over 1.5 million cattle across the county. Speaking during the launch at Nkoilale Livestock Yard, Governor Patrick Ntutu announced that the county has subsidized the cost of the vaccine, with farmers required to pay only Ksh 50 per cow. He explained that the vaccination exercise will begin after farmers register their livestock in the e-voucher system and undergo sensitization. Governor Ntutu further confirmed that all vaccines were sourced exclusively from the Kenya Veterinary Vaccines Production Institute (KEVEVAPI) and that training and awareness forums for farmers have already been completed, paving the way for smooth implementation of the program.
