NICCO Bus license suspended over passenger's death

The Transport Licensing Appeals Tribunal has suspended the operating licence of NICCO Bus, giving the company seven days to withdraw its entire fleet from the road following the death of a passenger. The suspension comes three months after Eugene Mutuku, a KMTC student, was allegedly pushed from a moving NICCO bus on June 5. His family is now questioning why no criminal arrests have been made, with the driver and conductor involved in the incident still at large. The Matatu Owners Association has apologised to the family but says it will appeal the grounding of nearly 100 vehicles, warning that the suspension could result in massive losses for the SACCO.
