The Kenya National Union of Nurses and Midwives says talks with the Council of Governors are still ongoing, but the nurses' strike remains in force. The union's Secretary-General Seth Panyako is pushing for the signing and implementation of the 2017 Collective Bargaining Agreement, which governors have rejected, arguing that it was agreed to under duress and cannot be implemented. The impasse persists a day after Deputy President Professor Kithure Kindiki directed the Ministry of Health to bring the striking nurses and the Council of Governors together to resolve the ongoing dispute.
