Ogamba clarifies funding for first-year students

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba has announced that funding applications for first-year university students and TVET trainees will continue to be processed under the current student-centred funding model. The clarification comes amid public concern over thousands of first-year students who have reported to tertiary institutions without funding for tuition and upkeep. Ogamba says the current funding arrangement will remain in place until Parliament passes the Tertiary Education Placement and Funding Bill, 2026, which will facilitate the transition to the new funding model.
