    In a major boost for the security sector, salaries for Police Constables, mid-ranking officers, and National Youth Service members are set to increase by nearly 50 percent, following a comprehensive remuneration review by the Interior Ministry. Under the ongoing Security Sector Reforms, the highest-ranking officers in the Police Service will now earn over half a million shillings per month. The salary adjustments, effective July 2026, mark the final phase of sweeping reforms across the country’s security services. This as a systems audit in the national police service undertaken by the ethics and anti-corruption commission revealed systemic weaknesses, inefficiencies and loopholes that may allow corrupt and unethical practices in the service
