Kenya Women Premier League champions Police Bullets are off to a good start at the CECAFA CAF Club Championship qualifiers, after a hard-fought 2-1 win over Tanzania champions Simba Queens. The tournament, which has attracted 10 teams, kicked off three days ago with the teams fighting for the single ticket to the continental championship. The Police Bullets were the better team in the opening minutes and were rewarded with a goal by Faith Mboya in the 17th minute. Simba Queens came back stronger after the cooling break, but Police held on for a 1-0 lead at half time. In the second half, Simba Queens’ pressure paid off as they got the equalising goal through Senaf Wakuma in the 70th minute. With both teams pushing for a winning goal, Police were gifted a goal from a mix-up in the Simba Queens defence. New signing Martha Amnyolette scored that winning goal with ten minutes to play. Simba Queens won their first match 2-0 against Top Girls Academy. Police Bullets are in a good position to top Group “C” if they secure a point against Top Girls Academy in their next match.
