Police CCTV network was offline when Rex Masai was shot

A senior police officer has told an inquest investigating the death of Rex Kanyike Masai that the police CCTV surveillance network in Nairobi’s Central Business District was not operational on the evening he was shot during the June 2024 anti-Finance Bill protests. Chief Inspector Andrew Limo, who is attached to the National Police Service CCTV Command Centre, told the court that most of the cameras remained offline even at the time of his testimony.
