Pyramids stun Gor Mahia with 2-0 away win

Egyptian giants Pyramids FC produced a stunning away performance at the Nyayo National Stadium, handing 22-time Kenya Premier League champions Gor Mahia a 2-0 defeat in the first leg of their 2026/27 CAF Champions League first preliminary round tie. In the fifth minute, Pyramids’ Mostafa Fathi sent in a dangerous delivery that was punched away by Byrne Odhiambo, but the ball fell straight to Walid El Karti, who volleyed home to give the visitors an early lead. Pyramids then doubled their advantage before the break, as Abdelrahman Magdy set up Saber following a fluid passing move that unlocked the Gor Mahia defence. With two goals to make up, Gor Mahia face a mountain to climb in the return leg at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo next Sunday.
