Speaking in Zambia during the inauguration of President Hakainde Hichilema for a second term, President Ruto called on African leaders to uphold democracy while ensuring political competition does not tear nations apart. Ruto said elections should be a contest over leadership and not a battle that divides citizens. He warned that political competition must never escalate into national conflict, insisting that what unites citizens must always outweigh what separates them.
