Ruto orders police to target financiers of political goons

President William Ruto has directed the National Police Service to step up efforts to tackle the menace of political goons ravaging the country, urging officers to not only arrest those hired but also pursue their financiers. Speaking at the Kiganjo Police Training College while presiding over the passing out of more than 6,000 constables, the Head of State said increased goon activity in the country’s political space poses a serious threat to national security ahead of the General Election. The President tasked law enforcement officers with ensuring Kenyans’ fundamental rights and freedoms, as enshrined in the Constitution, are protected, particularly the freedom of expression.
