Schleck, Aleper retain Safari Gravel Series titles

    Uganda’s Jordan Schleck and Mary Aleper have retained their Safari Gravel Series titles in Vipingo Ridge, winning the men’s and women’s 105-kilometre elite races. Schleck clocked three hours, 31 minutes and 59 seconds to finish ahead of Kenya’s Bernard Njoroge. Billy Mangwana finished a distant third. Aleper was also dominant in the women’s competition, timing four hours, 42 minutes and 24 seconds. Kenya’s Alice Miring’u finished second, more than an hour behind the winner, with Mercy Eregae finishing third. Lance Kangangi won the men’s 55-kilometre category, edging out Aarif Mohamed by just one second. Kangangi clocked two hours, 45 minutes and 50 seconds. In the women’s 55-kilometre race, Jecinta Wanjiru won a close contest, finishing just one second ahead of Jecinta Njoki. Vipingo was the third leg of the 2026 Safari Gravel Series, following races in Limuru and Naivasha.
