Kajiado Senator Samuel Seki has demanded THE full inclusion of the Magadi Community in discussions on any new deal to replace Tata Chemicals. This comes just days after President William Ruto ordered the Trona mining company, Tata Chemicals, to pack up and leave Magadi. Speaking during a thanksgiving ceremony in Kajiado South, Senator Seki said while he supports reforms in the mining sector, the Magadi community must not be sidelined in the search for a new investor. Seki wants the national government to ensure any new investor agreement includes clear benefits for the local community - including water provision, health care, education, employment for the youth and a fair share of royalties.
