Global ride-hailing giant Uber started operating in Africa in 2013, with South Africa as its first market on the continent. Since then, it has expanded to several African countries. But in recent years, the company has scaled back its operations in some markets. Uber has now announced it is leaving Nigeria and Uganda, following similar exits from other African countries. The company says it made what it described as a difficult decision after a review of its business.
